Xavier Boog French MX1 Champion
There was no real suspense in Iffendic for the penultimate round of the French Elite Championship, as even before the first practice session Xavier was sure to be champion. At 22 years old, the KRT rider from Colmar conquered his first French title.

On the podium of the six rounds, winner of ten heats and on the podium of all the others except the first one in Pernes, Xavier had a successful season in the French Pro series that he compete for the first time since a while after so many seasons in the German series. Second in the standings before this event with a gap of 89 points, Anthony Boissière was the last rival who could mathematically beat him; but after his injury in Sweden he didn’t raced Iffendic, so Xavier was sure to be champion in Brittany.
Qualified in fourth position as he crashed while leading the race and got a stone in his brake pedal, Xavier was twice runner-up behind Nicolas Aubin on Sunday. Coming to the last race with determination, he grabbed his second consecutive holeshot and pushed to win at least one heat in Brittany. He lost the lead when he did a mistake in the first part of the race, but then passed back Aubin to win his tenth success despite Aubin’s pressure. Second of the event behind Aubin, Xavier will be in six weeks at the final round of the series, just before flying to Brazil for the thirteenth round of the World Championship.

Xavier Boog: “I had some troubles this weekend to take a good rhythm, may be because I was already champion before the races, I don’t know. I was not confident on this track, the bike was sliding and I didn’t want to take any risk. I came to the last race with a stronger motivation, as I wanted to win at least one heat; I got the holeshot and was leading the race when I crashed. The engine didn’t stop but Aubin passed me and I had to pass him again to win this race. It was a good weekend, the French title was one of my goals and now I will try to get this podium that everyone in the team is expecting; but first of all I take a short break and will go home for a week with my family, then I will be back in Belgium to prepare Lommel which will be for sure a tough event. But as usual I will go there to do my best, and we’ll see the results that I can get there.”
François Lemariey: « There was no suspense as the title was already for Xavier before the race, but it was nice to see him claiming it with all his family around him. He did a good season, won many heats and he deserves it even if today he didn’t took risks. But he had a strong reaction in the last race, and ended the event with a good result. Jonathan Barragan was back to racing this weekend in the Belgian Championship; sixth, seventh and later fourth of the races he confirmed that he is back to his best level, and that’s encouraging three weeks prior the next Grand Prix.”

Boog sixth in the MX1 standings
GP 9 - Uddevalla SWEDEN
Xavier Boog of the Kawasaki Racing Team proved once again that he is one of the fastest riders in the FIM World MX1 Championship, and claimed the sixth position in the standings.
The 22 year old Frenchman twice set the fastest time during practice sessions at Uddevalla in Sweden, and was easily the fastest rider on the track at the end of the first GP moto. But indifferent starts after he stalled his engine during the Saturday qualification race left him with a poor choice of gate, and cost Xavier the opportunity to turn his speed into a major haul of points. Initially 11th in the first GP moto, he surrendered a couple of places as he struggled to find his rhythm and then found it hard work to pass on the damp one-lined track. Once he had passed Goncalves and Boissière for 9th, the riders ahead were a long way ahead and he just failed to gain another place despite setting the second fastest lap of the entire race, several seconds faster than even the leaders were recording in the closing minutes of a gruelling race. Starting a little better in race two, Xavier advanced strongly from 9th but again found a gap to the front four after taking fifth place on the 15th of 21 laps. Nevertheless he never gave up and at the finish was just one second short of the rider in fourth position.

Xavier Boog: “I proved with the fastest time in both the pre qualifying practice yesterday and the warm up this morning that I was among the fastest riders here, so I was expecting better results in the races. Yesterday I stalled the engine in the second corner after starting really well and used a lot of energy to work hard to come back from last to ninth. My start in the first GP moto today was pretty bad, I recovered many positions during the opening lap but the track was mainly one line; I didn’t find a good rhythm and lost too much time behind Gonçalves and Boissière. I was disappointed to again only finish ninth even though I posted the second fastest lap of the entire race right at the end of the race, but the second heat was better with a fifth position. The track was rough but there were more lines in race two.”
François Lemariey: “Xavier got once more a great result as the goal for him this season was to finish top ten, and he finished seventh here. For sure after his pole position during the pre qualifying session and the warm-up we were expecting more, but it’s a learning season for him and he needs to improve his speed during the opening laps of each race. That’s where he lost a better result this weekend, and we are all waiting his first MX1 podium! Concerning his teammates Jonathan will be back in Lommel at the end of this month, and Sébastien could ride next weekend the Belgian championship if the doctors confirmed that his vision troubles are over.”

Boog again top five
GP 8 Kegums - LATVIA
Xavier Boog, the lone Kawasaki Racing Team MX1 GP rider at this weekend’s Latvian GP, continued his fine rookie season with another top five finish.
In both races the Frenchman initially took time to settle into his best rhythm on the demanding track, but, the true professional that he is, he stuck doggedly to the task and was able to regain most of the lost ground before the finish of the races. He was rewarded for his persistence with fifth overall in the Grand Prix after crossing the line sixth and fifth in the two races and he is now even more firmly established amongst the series top seven. Xavier retains his ranking as top rookie and has also gained points on the riders immediately ahead of him in the championship; he is now just 21 points from sixth in the series with six GPs remaining.

Xavier Boog: “I couldn’t find the lines during yesterday’s qualifying race and consequently found it difficult to make passes, but in some ways it was a good preparation for today as it made me think about the solution. I actually got a good start in the first race in fifth position but I couldn’t find a good rhythm in the waves section on the first lap and dropped back to eighth. The track was pretty rough and the riders in front of me were all amongst the fastest riders in the class so it was not easy to pass, but I managed to move forward to sixth by the finish of the race. I got a really good start in the second race, but again I lost a few places in the first couple of laps. But I passed Philippaerts and Nagl to finish fifth. I couldn’t fight for the podium this week, but I learnt a lot and hasd two consistent races. This was my fifth weekend of racing in a row, and I am looking forward to tasking some rest after the Swedish GP and a French Elite championship race.”
François Lemariey: “Xavier is now consistent in all his races, and he did well every weekend. Now he needs to be stronger in the first laps, that are where he loose time; then he is as fast as any top five rider in the series. Concerning Sébastien he had new exams this week, he suffers from an hematoma to his left eye which affect his vision. He has to rest to solve the problem, and nobody can say how long it will take to recover; he will be back only when he will be ready for it.”

Xavier won again in France!
French Championship - June 12/13 2010
For the third time in a row Xavier Boog won a French Elite Championship round, and is now strongly leading the series with two more races to go. Winner in Ernée after great racing against Mickael Pichon and Marvin Musquin, Xavier did an impressive third heat to claim this win and could be crowned during the penultimate race in Iffendic mid July.

Third of the qualifying race on Saturday, Xavier was third again on Sunday in the opening heat and came to the next one strongly motivated. The kid from Alsace grabbed the holeshot and then leads the entire race, to beat Pichon and Musquin with the fastest lap time. The last race was more difficult for him as another rider selected his gate on the grid and forced Xavier to move outside; the KRT rider missed a good start and was in the pack after a few corners, in fifteenth position. On a technical and rough track he did an impressive performance, coming fourth after ten minutes and then posting fast laps – including the fastest one – to join Pichon, Musquin and Boissière who all battled for the win. None of them had the honors as Xavier passed everyone to claim his second heat win this week-end, and the overall classification. He is now leading the MX1 classification by 85 points, with two more rounds – Iffendic in July and Lacapelle Marival in August – to go.
Jonathan Barragan didn’t entered the Spanish championship this weekend, as the Spaniard didn’t felt yet ready for racing; Jonathan started practicing ten days ago, and expect to be back to the GP’s in Latvia or Sweden. In Kester Sébastien Pourcel raced a round of the Belgian series, and with a sixth and an eighth positions he prepared the three Grand Prix – Germany, Latvia and Sweden – that the series will visit in the following weeks.

Xavier Boog: “The first part of the weekend was not so great, but I improved my results in each race. Before the last race I was forced to move on the grid as one rival took my place, and I came on a dusty one. I lost grip at the start and came to the first corner in the pack, and nearly crashed; it’s a shame as we had perfect settings for the start after the first race, and when I came back fourth the leaders were far away. I focused on my riding, posted a series of fast laps and joined them to win the last race. I ended my weekend with a great performance, that’s a good training for the GP’s”
François Lemariey: “This weekend Xavier was impressive, especially during the last race against Pichon and Musquin. We’re impatient to be at the next races now! He proved during the second race that he can holeshot the pack, but we know that we have to work on this point as the start is so important now in the GP’s”

FASTEST LAP FOR BOOG
GP 7 -St. Jean d´Angely- FRANCE
Kawasaki Racing Team’s Xavier Boog showed that it can only be a matter of time before he records his first MX1 GP podium as he set the fastest lap of the day in the French round of the FIM World Motocross Championship at Saint Jean D’Angely in France.
After a stunning second place in Saturday’s qualifying race the 22 year old justifiably had high expectations from his home GP, but a mysterious technical problem forced Xavier to withdraw from the first race and his starting skills deserted him in race two before he surged back through the pack at a fantastic pace to record the fastest lap of the day on the 12th lap; he continued to push to the finish, snatching 7th place on the final lap before running out of time to haul back those riders still ahead of him.
Sebastien Pourcel, who had won both motos in the last GP at the track two years ago, was another to move forward in both races but, after moving quickly from 13th position to battle for top six in race one, he caught his foot in one of the deep ruts caused by overnight rain and lost a lot of time restarting as he came to a halt at an awkward place. After struggling to settle down in the early laps of race two Sebastien found his rhythm as the race wore on and advanced strongly into the top in the closing stages of the race.
Out of action through injury in recent weeks ago, Jonathan Barragan – who has a two years deal with KRT – was able to practice this week in Belgium and will contest a round of the Spanish national series next week before returning to the GP scene in Germany in two weeks time. |

Xavier Boog : “Yesterday was too good to be true, compared to today. I got my best qualifying result so far with a second position on Saturday, and was expecting good results in the races for points. My first start was pretty good, but halfway round the first lap I had a technical problem with the throttle; I had no alternative but to retire. I didn’t get a good start in the second race but I fought through to fourteenth after one lap and continued to make passes for the rest of the race even though it was difficult to pass on this track. I was happy with my riding this weekend, but not with my results; I set the fastest lap of the race on the 12th lap in that second race as I moved through to seventh place and I could see the three riders head of me at the finish. My speed proves that I can start thinking about a podium result now; luck was against me here, but I will come back even stronger in Germany.” |

|
Sébastien Pourcel: “A tenth and a fifteenth place are not exactly what I wanted here, but at least it’s much better than two DNFs. The first moto could have been so much better; I had a good rhythm and was battling with Leok for sixth place, but I crashed when my foot got dragged back in a rut. I was a muddy section of the track and it was a long time before I could restart the bike and salvage a few points. It took me a long time to find my rhythm in the second race after an average start; once I settled down and stopped making so many mistakes I was able to find better lines and pull back to tenth.” |

|
Francois Lemariey: “We’re a little bit disappointed by the results, Xavier was unlucky in the first heat with this technical problem; then he shows us his speed in the second race but he lost too much time at the start to race for a podium. Sébastien had a good qualifying session, his problem is to be back in confidence and we’ll remind his strong second race where he got a tenth position, without any crash or mistake.” |

Another near podium for Boog
GP 6 - Glen Helen - CALIFORNIA
Xavier Boog of the Kawasaki Racing Team continued his run of impressive results in his rookie MX1 GP season as he narrowly missed the podium for the second time in three races.
Starting 12th in the opening moto, Xavier worked his way forward methodically to finish 6th at the finish of a race run under blue skies with temperatures rising into the low 30s Celcius at the Glen Helen Raceway, near San Bernardino in southern California. With track conditions becoming ever more demanding Xavier showed great resolution in race two to prove himself strongest at the end as he gained two positions late on to finish 5th, enough to ensure 4th overall on the day. He remains 7th in the championship standings, but is separated from 5th place in the series by just seven points.
Sebastien Pourcel run of wretched luck continued, a collision putting him out of 13th place midway through the first race. He pulled out of the same position in race two after hurting his hip when he lost control in a bumpy section of the track.

Xavier Boog: « It was a great experience to come here. This is my first trip to the USA and I have throughly enjoyed the trip, particularly my good results here at Glen Helen. My first start was not so great but I came back through the field to sixth. Before the second moto I felt tired, but my start was good and I didn’t try to stay with the leaders. I knew it would be a tough race, for sure some riders would not be able to maintain the same rhythm all race and that’s exactly what happened in the last ten minutes. I passed two riders to finish fifth and that gave me fourth overall on the day so this is the second GP in a row that I have been so close to the podium. The track was rougher today and I enjoyed that; we’ve had some great circuits this season and next weekend we have another good track at Saint Jean D’Angely. It would be a dream to score my first MX1 podium in my home country, but I will give my best as always, and with good starts, who knows ? » |

Sébastien Pourcel: « It’s been another bad GP and that is difficult for me and the team to accept. In the first race I crashed with Boissière and damaged the bike, and then during the second one I had a good start behind Xavier but lost control of my bike on a bumpy section of the track. I had pain in my hip so I retired. This is the second GP in a row where I didn’t score any point and I hope that this series will stop in Saint Jean D’Angely, a track where I got great results two years ago. »
François Lemariey: « We hope that Sébastien will get soon some good results, at the moment he is doing mistakes and must find the solution to his problems, as we offer him all what he needs to succeed. Hopefully for the team Xavier grabbed good results each weekend, now we’re waiting his first podium as he was so close to get it in the US! Jonathan got the permission from his doctors to start practicing again, he will race the next round of the Spanish series in two weeks time and will be back to the GP’s for Teutschenthal »

A CLOSE SECOND FOR BOOG
GP 5 - Catalunya - BELLPUIG
MX1 GP rookie Xavier Boog came within a couple of seconds of his first moto win in the top echelon of off-road racing on a sun-baked hillside track at Bellpuig in the Catalan region of Spain. Teammate Sebastien Pourcel was eliminated for the day after a first race crash left him with double vision,
Boog once again showed that he has developed a first class starting technique on his Kawasaki KX450F, but never settled down in the opening race and dropped down to 13th place by the finish after numerous mistakes and a couple of crashes. The determined Frenchman knows no better inspiration than his own pride and self-respect and set about making up for his disappointing first race with a vengeance in race two, forcing his way up the leader board to eventually finish second, less than two seconds behind the winner.
Pourcel had been in inspired form in the opening race and had just passed defending champion Cairoli for sixth place when his front wheel dropped in a hole as he approached a jump and he crashed heavily. Suffering with double vision during the interval between the two races, Sebastien and the team wisely decided not to risk him contesting the second race.
The Kawasaki family was delighted to welcome back Jonathan Barragan to the race track for the first time since he suffered a dislocation of the right leg last month; the smiling Spaniard, the MX1 GP winner at Bellpuig last year, said that he was already able to swim and cycle and expects to be given clearance to start riding his Kawasaki KX450F soon before hopefully rejoining the KRT team for the 8th round of the FIM MX1 World Championship at Teutschenthal in Germany on the weekend of June 21/22.
Xavier Boog: «I got two great starts today, but I didn’t make the best of the first one. I started sixth but I just couldn’t find a good rhythm and crashed twice. I just kept making mistakes and finished down in 13th place. I was frustrated and angry with myself when I got back to the truck; I was determined to do better in the second race and did just that. I was actually second into the first turn but drifted a little wide and three guys went underneath me but I settled into a good rhythm straight away and felt comfortable racing with the leaders. I found a place where I could make passes and came back to second place, right on the winner, by the end. I have now proved that I am capable of a podium, and that will be my next goal.»

|
Sébastien Pourcel: « I started mid pack in the first race but I immediately settled into a good rhythm and found some good lines to move forward to sixth place. I even passed Cairoli but a few laps later my front wheel dropped in a hole just before a jump and I crashed pretty hard. I fell on my head, took the handlebars in my ribs and was in shock for a while. During the interval I had some troubles with my vision, I couldn’t see so well with my right eye and as a team we decided it was better for me not to start the second race. Obviously it is disappointing not to score any points this weekend, but I proved in the practice sessions and during the first race that I’m back to my previous speed.» |
 |
[18.05.2010] |
 |
|
Jonathan Barragan: « I feel better and better every day, and for a few days now I’ve been able to go swimming and cycling again; that’s my program every morning, then in the afternoon I go working with my physiotherapist. That’s the best way to stay in good physical shape before my comeback. This week I will travel to Belgium to see Doctor Claes. He will advise me when I can start riding my Kawasaki again, but I think the goal is going to be in Teutschenthal for the eighth round of the series. Mentally it’s not so easy for me not to be racing, especially here in Bellpuig where I won last year. But I am looking forward to working with the team again and getting the good results we expect; before my injury they had found the best settings for my style, I was pleased with the bike and I’m now impatient to start racing again.»
François Lemariey: “Xavier had a tough opening race, but he reacted perfectly in the second one and could have won the race! But we’re happy to celebrate his first race podium with the team. Sébastien had also a good speed, we were pleased to see him back to his previous speed but he had a bad crash in race one. We asked him not to race the second moto, he had some vision’s troubles and that could be dangerous. There’s ten more races to go, and he needs to be in good shape for the US round and the followings”

ALMOST A PODIUM FOR ROOKIE BOOG
GP 4 Portugal - AGUEDA
Xavier Boog of the Kawasaki Racing Team came within a whisker of recording a podium in only his 4th MX1 GP at Agueda in Portugal. The 22 year old raced to 4th place in each moto and was headed for a podium finish on the day until another rider got in his way on the next to last lap and cost him the chance of his first trophy in the class.
The Frenchman, clearly established as the best rookie in the MX1 GPs this year, had already laid the foundations on Saturday as he charged through the pack to 4th place in the qualification race, the resultant good choice of gate position allowing him to get through the first corner with the leading pack in both points-scoring motos on Sunday.
Xavier soon established himself in 4th place in the first race, pushing 2008 world champion Philippaerts and defying defending champion Cairoli all the way to the chequered flag. After another good start in race two he was pushing De Dycker hard for the second place which would have secured him his first podium in the class, but temporarily lost momentum as he touched the Belgian’s rear wheel and this allowed the following Desalle to race around them both to clinch the overall win.
A crash at the start of the qualification race meant that Boog’s KRT teammate Sebastien Pourcel faced an awkward first turn in the points-scoring races. The fears of Sebastien getting tangled up with other riders at the first turn sadly proved well-founded, but he never gave up charging and was rewarded with two top ten finishes and the hope of better to come as his lap times were also similar to those being posted by the podium men.
Boog consolidated his 7th place in the championship, while Pourcel moved back into the series top eight.
Xavier Boog: «It was a great weekend for me, with everything going well on both days. I fought my way to 4th in the qualification race on Saturday which gave me an inside gate, so important at a track like this where the riders drift wide at the fast first turn. That meant I made two great starts, especially in the second moto when I held second place for a couple of corners. I found a good rhythm on the first lap in both races and that makes the racing so much easier. When Cairoli was chasing me in the last few laps of the opening moto I never let him get right on to my rear wheel; I focused on Philippaerts who was third and that helped me to keep my concentration. My start in the second moto was my best of the season; Desalle and De Dycker passed me quickly, but I came back at De Dycker and he was holding me up in the end; I might even have made the podium, but I lost drive when I touched his rear wheel and Desalle was able to ride around us for the overall win and I ended up 4th but now I know I can challenge for the podium»

|
Sébastien Pourcel: «I crashed at the start of the qualification race on Saturday, and that made my weekend difficult as the rain created big ruts and made it difficult to pass. I could only get back to 17th which meant I was in the middle of the gate and anything can happen from there. I had a good jump from the gate in the first race, but there was a lot of confusion at the first corner. I came out mid-pack but was able to recover to finish 8th. The first corner was again difficult in race two and then I collided with another rider later in the first lap; that left me 24th, but I put in some good lap times to recover to 9th place at the finish. The result should have been better, but at least I know that I have the speed and I’m sure when I can get through the first turn with the leaders I am ready for a podium result. That will be the goal for the next GPs, and I will focus on the qualification to get a better place at the gate»
François Lemariey: « We couldn’t expect such good results from Xavier, who is still discovering the MX1 class but surprised us every week! It’s more difficult for Sébastien who post fast laps during the races, but does some mistakes which cost him positions. But we’re confident and things will turn in his favor soon. This week we all stay together, mechanics and riders; we’ll work on the bikes on Monday, and then we will drive to Spain where the riders will train prior the GP next week»

Another triple win for Xavier Boog - 02/05/2010
Xavier Boog had another perfect weekend in Gaillac Toulza near Toulouse, for the fourth round of the French Elite championship. Winner of the three heats he is now strongly leading the series, while his teammate Sébastien Pourcel raced the first round of the Belgian series, where he scored a fifth place overall.
In the French series everything went perfect for Xavier Boog who claimed another triple win a few weeks after his triumph in Romagné. With six heat wins in a row he increases the gap with his rivals in the standings, with three more races (Ernée, Iffendic and Lacapelle Marival) to go. The practice sessions were canceled on Saturday due to heavy rain, but the track was nearly perfect on Sunday for the short practice session and then the races. Except a minor problem with his brake during the first moto, Xavier had no troubles and confirms his potential with the 450 Kawasaki.
Xavier Boog: « We had so much rain on Saturday that we couldn’t expect so good conditions on Sunday, the track was perfect! I got good starts, and then didn’t do any mistake so I’ve now six wins in a row and that’s great. Gregory Aranda was not there but both Anthony Boissière and Nicolas Aubin were strong today and forced me to push during the three races; it was good training before the GP of Portugal. »

Belgium Championship - Beervelde 01/05/2010
Sébastien was in Belgium to race the opening round of the series in Beervelde, a track designed on a sandy and rough surface. After a fifteen minutes practice session in the morning, Seb started twice in the top five and was fourth of the opening moto when he did a small mistake on a dusty layout. Sixth of the race, he improved his performance with a fourth position and got a fifth place overall. He is now in South of France to prepare the Portuguese and Spanish rounds of the World Championship.
Sébastien Pourcel: « We raced on a sandy location, but the main problem was the dust as the track was so dry with the nice weather we have in Belgium since several weeks. My rhythm was not fast enough during the first circulations, and with the dust I didn’t want to take any risk; I was fourth when I had a small crash in the first race, and lost two positions. The second moto was better and I was following Guarneri and Leok in fourth place, but the dust was again a problem to pass. It was the main problem today; apart this it was a good training as the track was rough. »

Boog seventh and best MX1 rookie
GP 3 The Netherlands-VALKENSWAARD
Xavier Boog and Sebastien Pourcel kept battling through a difficult week which had seen the Kawasaki Racing Team lose the services of Jonathan Barragan through injury. Boog advanced to 7th in the standings, whilst Pourcel is just six points shy of a single digit ranking despite a tough weekend at Valkenswaard in the Netherlands, scene of round three of the FIM MX1 World Championship.
Both riders found themselves with disadvantageous starting positions after incidents with other riders during the qualification race on Saturday, but they showed good pace to force their way forward to 10th (Boog) and 11th (Pourcel) in the first moto before errors temporarily lost each of them ground and they eventually crossed the line 11th and 16th.
Race two was also not kind to the Kawasaki riders but each persevered to score valuable points and can look forward to a return to better results as the series moves to the hard-pack surface of the GPs in Portugal and Spain in coming weeks.

Xavier Boog: “After my good results in the first two GPs and in the international race in Belgium last week I had confidently expected to finish top ten here, but I had an eventful weekend and just missed my goal. A crash at the first corner of the qualification race on Saturday meant that I didn’t have a good choice of gate, but I was able to force my way into the top ten in both motos before I made mistakes which cost me points each time. In the first moto I forgot for a moment that I was on a 450 when I opened the gas too quickly and crashed, then in the second race I changed my line to pass de Reuver and lost control in a bumpy section. The bike got stuck in the wooden fence and I lost a lot of time and energy getting back into the race. I knew I would have ups and downs in my first season on a 450, but I never gave up and managed to recover to maintain my record of scoring in every race so far and stay 7th in the points standings.” |

Sébastien Pourcel: “I was training with Jonathan when he got injured on Wednesday and I found it difficult to concentrate on the track and the race this weekend. On Saturday I didn’t find a good rhythm in the first practice, and then in the pre-qualifying I crashed and hurt my right knee. It just wasn’t my day and in the qualification race I collided with another rider at the start; the ignition cover was damaged and I had to retire which meant I had the worst position on the grid for Sunday. Still I managed to get up to eleventh place in the first moto until I made a couple of mistakes in the last ten minutes which cost me a couple of places. I am still rebuilding the strength in my shoulder after being injured last year and after 15 minutes of the second moto I was finding it difficult to control the bike as the track became more and more bumpy. I have some bad memories from this place, so I avoided taking any risks but still managed to finish eleventh. It’s not the result I wanted for the team and the fans, but I know that the Portuguese and Spanish tracks will be better for me and I am sure I will be battling with the leaders there.”

The three KRT riders in the top nine of the World Championship
GP 2 Italy-MANTOVA
Victories continue to elude the Kawasaki Racing Team in this year’s World MX1 Championship so far this year, but the team riders continue their advance towards the front each week; Xavier Boog and Jonathan Barragan both finished top six on the day at Mantova in northern Italy, and Sebastien Pourcel was 5th in the first race before an unfortunate second moto pushed him outside the top ten on the day, but all three KRT riders now sit firmly in the top nine in the series.
Boog and Pourcel had both fallen at the awkward first corner during the qualification race on Saturday, but each of the Frenchmen gated top ten in the first moto on Sunday and Pourcel quickly pushed forward to 5th and might even have advanced further had he not started to suffer with armpump. He wisely controlled his pace to finish the race without costly mistakes. Boog also rode a sensible race to finish 7th, one ahead of Jonathan Barragan; the Spaniard continues to show great pace, but has yet to master the art of gating well on the Kawasaki and had to battle his way forward from 14th place on the opening lap.
The second race was less satisfactory for Pourcel as he fell on the opening lap and had to take risks to advance through the pack. 23rd on lap one, he was quickly into the points in 19th position before a further error pushed him back to 27th; with the field already well strung-out, he had to be content with 18th at the chequered flag. Boog had his best GP ride to date for the team as he battled on the leader board throughout to score his first top six finish in the MX1 division, but Barragan again started badly and once more had to fight hard to advance to 8th position by the end of the race.

|
Xavier Boog:‘I made two good starts this weekend, and that was a good basis for my best results so far in MX1. I didn’t gate so well in the first moto, but I was able to cut inside at the first corner and came out 8th. I suffered a little with armpump later in the race, but I had no difficulty to hold 7th place to the finish. In the second moto I nearly grabbed the holeshot and was really enjoying the track. 6th place was a great ride for me. I feel more comfortable every race with my Kawasaki and I can look forward with confidence to the upcoming races. I will race at Mons in Belgium next week; that is a sand track so it will be good preparation for the next GP at Valkenswaard.” |
 |

 |
|
Jonathan Barragan: ‘I finished twice in the top eight today, but that is not what I am looking for. I still need more race time on the Kawasaki to improve my feeling with the bike, and that shows in my starts. It is always difficult to get a good result if you are not with the leaders from the word go, and that was especially true here as it was a very difficult to pass on this track. Next week I will race a Spanish championship round, and then I head for the Netherlands; I won there last year, so my goal for this year must be a podium result.’ |
 |

 |
|
Sébastien Pourcel: ‘The weekend didn’t start well when I crashed at the start of the qualifying race, but I was still able to make good starts on Sunday even with an eighteenth position on the grid. But my results are not what I expected; the track was very rough and in the first moto I had armpump after about ten minutes so I concentrated on not making mistakes which could endanger my 5th place. Crashes cost me a good result in the second race. I fell at the start and was taking too many risks to come back; in the end I hit a stake and crashed again so I only scored three points. I have been working hard for the last three months to improve my riding on sandy tracks and I hope that I will be able to score top five finishes in both races at Valkenswaard.’
François Lemariey : ‘Xavier got better results each weekend, he did a perfect GP in Italy and we are sure that he can do better if he can take a faster rhythm early in the race. We are disappointed for Sébastien; he did a good performance in the first heat, but a crash at the second start cost him a better result. He has the speed to do better, and that’s the same situation for Jonathan who needs now better start to expect higher results’

Encouraging start of the GP season for team KRT
All three Kawasaki Racing Team riders finished in the top eleven on the day at the opening round of the FIM World MX1 Championship to confirm that they will be a leading force in the series this year.
Jonathan Barragan ended the day 7th overall after showing impressive speed in the later stages of both motos, but, coming to the GP after a string of successes in his national championship, the Spaniard had a difficult time during Saturday’s qualifying race which resulted in him starting the points-scoring races from a disadvantageous gate pick. In the closing stages of the first race Jonathan was setting lap times two seconds faster than the leaders, but had surrendered too much time in the early laps through errors and had to be content with 6th place at the finish. In race two it was a similar story, but he again forced his way through to 6th place on the very last lap as he pulled back no less than three seconds on 2008 champion David Philippaerts. Sebastien Pourcel had seemed assured of a top placing overall and joined a four rider breakaway at the front in the early stages of race one. A momentary slip on lap four need not have proved so costly, but unfortunately another rider landed on his bike and damaged the pipe and side panel, forcing the Frenchman to withdraw from the race. Bouncing back in race two Sebastien took a fine fourth place to confirm the anticipated promise. Xavier Boog, a newcomer to MX1 GP racing, repeated the composure which he has shown in the recent rounds of the French championship to twice finish amongst the top ten with 8th and 9th placed finishes.

|
Jonathan Barragan: ‘I crashed in the qualifying race so I only had the fifteenth gate for Sunday. That inevitably meant that I had two bad starts, and then I made many more mistakes, crashing twice in each race. It is unfortunate that I was not able to battle at the front, but I had good speed and came back to sixth in each race. You can’t compare the tracks in Spain with this one, but my feeling with the bike is getting better with each race so I’m already focused for Mantova next weekend.’ |
 |

 |
|
Xavier Boog: ‘I felt more and more comfortable as the weekend progressed. On Saturday evening I had not been so happy with my twelfth position in the qualifying race, but I got two good results on Sunday. I had a good start in the first race and then battled with established MX1 riders such as Ramon and Coppins. I lost two positions when De Dycker and Cairoli passed me, but they were both charging hard and I was happy with my eighth place. My start in the second race was similar to the first but I made some mistakes on the opening lap and several riders passed me. That made the race more difficult for me and a few laps later I had a small crash, but I was able to fight my way back to ninth place at the finish. It was a tough day, but my goal in my first MX1 GP was to be in the top ten and I did just that in both motos.’ |

Sébastien Pourcel:‘The weekend started well when I took second place in the qualifying race on Saturday, but today I had a few problems. I had a good start in the first race and I had found a good rhythm until I hit a neutral in the waves section. I crashed, and unfortunately Cairoli jumped on my bike and damaged the pipe and the side panel. The second race was better, but still not what I was expecting as I made a couple of small mistakes and even had a small crash when I was third. I worked all winter but this was my first GP race for almost a year and I know that I have to continue to work; I think I will be back at my best level in another four to six weeks.’
François Lemariey: ‘It was good opening round for the team, without a race incident for Seb in the first moto our three riders would have finished in the top ten. Seb missed the opportunity to get an excellent result but confirmed his good shape; Xavier also confirmed his potential on the MX1 class at the highest level while Jonathan did great come backs after a difficult qualification on Saturday. The riders are happy with the bikes, we did a good job during the pre season races and we’re ready for the tough program of the season.’

Perfect score for Jonathan Barragan
Winner of the first two rounds of the Spanish Elite Championship, Jonathan Barragan got another double win this weekend in Tenerife and is unbeatable in the series. The KRT rider is now ready for the opening round of the MX1 World Championship in Sevlievo (Bulgaria)
For the second year in a row the Spanish series flies to Tenerife for the third of eight rounds, and it’s on a sunny layout that the event took place. Already winner last year on this track Jonathan had a perfect weekend, claiming the pole position – he beats the track record – and then adding two more successes. In both heats Jonathan had some troubles at the start – the starting area is on asphalt – and then recovered to take later the leadership of each race. Already winner of both races in Talavera de la Reina and Osuna, Jonathan is strongly leading the series and will now focus on the Grand Prix season.
Jonathan Barragan: ‘The track was fast and during the practice session it was difficult to make the difference, but for the races the circuit was rougher and I enjoyed racing there. The first start on the asphalt was not very good, but I came back on the leaders and after a strong battle with Campano I won the race. My second start was better and I pushed very hard from the start; I got the lead early and won again with a thirty five seconds advantage over Campano. I’m happy as I won on three different tracks, and I feel comfortable on my Kawasaki after so many practice sessions and races’
Classification of the 3rd round.
Heat 1: 1.Barragan (SPA, Kawasaki KRT); 2.Campano; 3.Lesage (FRA, Kawasaki); 4.Garrido; 5.Lozano; etc....
Heat 2: 1.Barragan; 2.Campano; 3.Lozano; 4.Lesage; 5.Garrido; etc...
Championship: 1.Barragan, 150 pts; 2.Lozano, 126; 3.Campano, 124; 4.Lesage, 92; 5.Costas, 73; etc...

An impressive Xavier Boog leads the French series
One week after celebrating his first heat win in Pernes les Fontaines, Xavier Boog dominates the third round of the French Elite Championship in Romagné. Winner of the three races of the program, he is the new leader of the series two weeks prior the opening GP in Bulgaria.
After two rounds on hard tracks the series move in Brittany and found different conditions, with a wet layout after some rain in the week. The grip was fantastic, the ruts deep and numerous, and of course this track was physically demanding even if the weather was just overcast during the race day. Winner on Saturday in the MX1 qualifying race, Xavier started the first race in the top three, and moved in the lead after a couple of laps to beat Anthony Boissière. A crash at the second turn of moto two cost Xavier to enter the race far from the leaders, but the KRT rider was at his best and joined the leading group for a final assault. He was fifth before the last ten minutes, and became the hero of the crowd when he passed all his rivals, including Gregory Aranda during the last lap to win his second race of the day. The third and last one was easier as Xavier started among the top four and passed all his rivals; he was the ‘man of the day’ and ended the event with three heat wins, the fastest lap time and of course the leadership of the series before the fourth round scheduled on May 1st in Gaillac Toulza.
Classification:
1st heat : 1.Boog (450 Kawasaki KRT) ; 2.Boissière; 3.Frossard ;etc.….
2nd heat : 1.Boog ; 2.Aranda ; 3.Boissière ;etc….
3rd heat : 1.Boog ; 2.Boissière ; 3.Van Horebeek ; etc….
MX1 Championship standings : 1.Boog, 196 pts ; 2.Boissière, 180 ; 3.Aranda, 175….7.Pourcel (450 Kawasaki KRT), 69 ; etc…

Xavier Boog: ‘It was a great weekend, the track was demanding but it was OK and I enjoyed it. I’m happy as I felt more and more comfortable on the bike, which is going better and better thanks to the adjustments the technical staff made on the suspensions and pipes. I feel stronger every week, I lost time at the beginning of the season with a finger injury but now I’m ready for the first GP where I will go confident after this pair of good results in the French series. Now I’m going back in the Netherlands to ride on sandy tracks, and then will spend a few days at home to practice on other surfaces before leaving for Bulgaria’
François Lemariey (team manager): ‘What a weekend! Xavier was amazing and did an incredible performance during the second race after the crash at the start. He had good lines, was fast, he proved that he was stronger than all his rivals this weekend. We made good improvements on the bike, either on the suspensions and the pipes; the technical staff of Leo Vinci did a great job, they found how to answer to our riders requests. The riders were expecting more power and they have it now, but we wanted also less noise and that’s exactly the results with the new exhaust pipes. We have now to finalize the suspension settings with Jonathan and Sébastien, and we’ll be ready for the opening GP’

Pourcel and Boog podiums in Pernes les Fontaines
This weekend has been successful for the KRT riders, as Sébastien Pourcel and Xavier Boog dominate the second round of the French Elite series while Jonathan Barragan won his second Spanish event in a row.
Sébastien Pourcel was one of the ‘guest star’ who joined the regular pack of the French Elite riders for the second round of the series in Pernes les Fontaines. For his third race of the season Seb claimed his first win since the 2008 Motocross of Nations, as he won one of the three day races and the overall classification. Seb didn’t got any decent start, but recovered promptly to come back in the top five during the opening lap and then battle for the win. He won the first moto, but in the second one was defeated by teammate Xavier Boog who was luckier when the leading group came back among the lappers. Xavier won his first even French Elite race after a frustrating opening heat, as he stalled twice his engine and lost many ranks. MX2 World Champion Marvin Musquin got the last holeshot and both Xavier and Sébastien were his main rivals; Xavier was his first opponent, but later Seb pushed and passed Marvin during the last lap. The French kid reacted immediately and finally beats Seb who claimed the overall win, followed by Xavier who is now only one point behind Aranda in the standings before the third round of the series in Romagné next weekend.
In Spain Jonathan Barragan confirmed his domination, and counts now four consecutive wins in the Spanish series; winner two weeks ago in Talavera de la Reina he claimed two other success in Seville, and took each race as a good opportunity to get used to his factory Kawasaki. The next round of the series is in two weeks time in Tenerif.

Sébastien Pourcel: ‘That’s a great feeling to battle for the win, but for sure that would be easier with better starts. I came here to win the three races, I think that I could do it but I lost too much time during the opening laps to recover. During the second moto the lappers were a problem, I crashed when I passed one and lost the race. We offered some great racing to the fans, the last race was good for them as I battled with Musquin until the finish line; I passed him in the last lap but he reacted and I crashed, that’s racing. The program of a French Elite round is tough with two practice session and a qualifying race on Saturday, then another practice and three races on Sunday; I didn’t felt tired and that’s positive for the future’
Xavier Boog: ‘My first race wasn’t as good as I was expecting, as I stalled the engine twice and lost too much time in the incident. I wanted some revenge in the following race, and that’s exactly what I did with my first Elite win. Then in the last race I was comfortable in second position behind Musquin, but in the last ten minutes I felt tired. I probably pushed too hard early to come back from seventh position to the first one, but I’m happy with the weekend especially on a fast southern track which is not my favorite’
Roger Pourcel: ‘It’s a great weekend for the team and Kawasaki, in Spain Jonathan won again and here in France we grabbed the first two places. I wasn’t sure that Sébastien would be fast enough; he worked hard in Belgium and proved that he is ready to win. We are pleased to see Xavier winning his first 450 race, he will surprise many people this season’

Ride on!

Everts & friends -

WM-Star Jonathan Barragan gewinnt ADAC MX Masters in Mehrnbach
1.Schiffer 129 / 2.Richier 108 / 3.Desalle 106 / 4.Avis 104 / 5.Neugebauer 103 / 6.Nagl 97 / 7.Nemeth 95 / 8.Graham 87
Für einen Heimsieg sorgte der Österreicher Manuel Obermair auf KTM im Youngsters Cup. Obermair siegte vor dem Tschechen Petr Smitka auf Yamaha und dem Dänen Rasmus Jörgensen vom Suzuki Int. Junior Team.
1.Roczen 108 / 2.Obermair 94 / 3.Smitka 92 / 4.Heidecke 90 / 5.Jörgensen 71 / 6.Gillard 71 / 7.Livs 65 / 8.Baudrexl 61
1.Tonkov 150 / 2.Ullrich 133 / 3.Thury 127 / 4.Koch 114 / 5.Reuther 97 / 6.Herlings 86 / 7.Rauchenecker 80 / 8.Diepold 80

1.Nagl 97 / 2.Nemeth 95 / 3.Richier 90 / 4.Schiffer 85 / 5.Avis 75 / 6.Neugebauer 73
Gesamtwertung Youngsters Cup nach 2 Veranstaltungen:
1.Roczen 74 / 2.Heidecke 54 / 3.Glaß 54 / 4.Gillard 53 / 5.Baudrexl 51
Gesamtwertung ADAC Junior Cup nach 3 von 8 Veranstaltungen:
1.Tonkov 50 / 2.Ullrich 100 / 3.Thury 91 / 4.Herlings 86 / 5.Koch 84 / 6.Reuther 76
Herzlichen Dank an Peter! ; )

GP in Valkensward (NL).

Man könnte sagen, … TEST BESTANDEN! ; )
Congratulations to the KAWASAKI Elf Team PFEIL!
SX in Chemnitz was very successful for KAWASAKI Elf Team PFEIL & the SPEXialists! The French guy Fabien Izoird # 79 won all two heats of the SX2 class and so he was the overall winner of Chemnitz SX – with SPEX Exhaust Systems.
For the SX1 class the overall winner is the French Pfeil-rider Franz Richter.
Perfect results! We hope the same for SX Munich 15-17/12/2006.
